Skiving Knife

Skiving is one of the most difficult skills to master in leatherworking. Having a sharp, reliable blade dramatically increases the quality of your skiving. Even craftspeople with skiving machines will sometimes use a skiving knife in more delicate or hard to reach operations, such as skiving the edge of a partially assembled bag or doing a steep skive for the edge of a seam.

Skiving knives are used for shaving thin layers off of leather and the Doldokki skiving knives have a wide edge ground to an angle with a flatter handle for working closer to the surface of your piece. Skiving is normally done to edges in order to glue and stitch two pieces of leather together so that their combined thickness equals the thickness of the rest of the piece.

These skiving knives have three blade shape options: diagonal, curved and diagonal curved.
