Antique | Sansa Swivel & Claw Fob Pendant

Product description

Unique 9ct Gold round pendant which swivels to reveal a double sided stone. Though we come across many of these fob pendants, we selected this piece in particular for it's deep speckled bloodstone and deep carnelian blood red (almost black) carnelian stone along with the unique talon like frame. There is a C & a P engraved to the top of one side showing this was likely a sentimental piece, this is shown in the image of the hand holding the pendant.
This fob would have originally been the adornment attached to a pocket watch chain in the Victorian era and may have even been used as a wax seal stamp. Pocket watches were kept in the fob pocket (a vest pocket in a gentleman's outfit) which were swung from a chain, attached to the vest pocket on the opposite side of the vest so they were secure when the gentleman pulled the watch out to check the time.Hallmarks9 + 375 (9ct Gold)Anchor (Birmingham, England)Letter X (1897)
