Here comes Matt with his third or fourth or fifth LP in like a year? Matt plays in Honey Bucket, LOX, and records with Mope Grooves, as well as assembling available locals for Shop Regulars, where he is in charge of all the small moving parts. This 2nd Shops tape is among my absolute favorite releases we've done. Guitar riffs show up as jokes out of context before revealing themselves to be from another planet. They sound gossipy, and they seem to mock a coherent language that often resembles rock music. Do you ever wish there was an album with a loose pastiche quality reminiscent of Guided By Voices but more consistently good and interesting and also the drummer keeps the fucking hi-hat closed? Then this album is for you!
