Harebells delicate blue bell-shaped flowers are a common sight in grasslands, hedgerows, and sand dunes, and on cliffs and hillsides. This creeping native perennial prefers to grow on dry undisturbed ground but will tolerate most soil types. Flowering from July to September, the Harebell is one of the RHS Plants for Pollinators and is an excellent autumnal source of nectar for bumble bees and honey bees.
All parts of this plant are edible.  The flowers are an attractive addition to a salad and the leaves can be eaten raw or steamed.
Sourced from native seed and grown for us in the UK, our 9cm pot plants are a quick and effective way to boost species in a wildflower meadow.
We recommend planting around 3 plants per metre square in groups of at least 3 per species for a naturalistic look.
