Our limited-edition Summer Rum is back again! As the name suggests, SUMMER RUM IS ONLY AVAILABLE FOR THE SUMMER. You can find this rare treasure from Memorial Day to Labor Day at the distillery, local bars and liquor stores.
THE STORY BEHIND SUMMER RUM
Last year, we decided to break our rules. We only have two them at DCD. First, we make what we want to drink. Second, we make spirits using the best ingredients from our surroundings in Michigan. The problem is we like drinking daiquiris in the summer and sugar cane doesn’t grow in Michigan. We invited our friends to do something we’d never done before and we made a rum together. It was so damn good last year that we didn't change a thing for the recipe this time around. That said, we did drop a sexy new limited-edition label from WC Bevan and Mo at Art Problems to commemorate the lost summer of 2020.
RUM BY BARTENDERS FOR BARTENDERS
We made this spirit made in collaboration with some of our the best bars and bartenders across Detroit. We invited the crews from from Standby, The Skip, Takoi, Grey Ghost, Second Best, Keisling and Evening Bar to help blend rare rums we sourced from Jamaica, Trinidad, Barbados, Guyana and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
TASTE OF SUMMER
The result is the perfect daiquiri rum. The nose is full of Jamaican funk with ripe banana, pineapple and clove. The light rose gold body has a creamy mouthfeel full of Caribbean fruit notes like papaya, guava, mangos and coconut. The silky smooth finish offers hints lime, toffee and French Indie spice.
