Vito Di Modugno è tra le figure più note al pubblico nell’ambito del jazz contemporaneo segnatamente al suo ruolo di hammondista tra i più quotati a livello internazionale. E’ apparso anche nella speciale classifica di Down Beat, la più autorevole rivista di jazz al mondo, tra i migliori interpreti dello strumento. Da anni consecutivamente votato come miglior hammondista ai Jazzit awards. Alla guida del suo quartetto, che include musicisti di grande prestigio nazionale (Massimo Manzi, Michele Carrabba, Pietro Condorelli), incontra qui il gigante italiano Fausto Leali, conosciuto in tutto il mondo per la voce graffiante che gli fruttò l’appellativo di negro bianco, con successi nell’ambito della musica leggera italiana che sono entrati nell’immaginario collettivo: A chi (cover di Hurt), Angelitos negros, Un’ora fa, Io camminerò, Io amo, Mi manchi, Ti lascerò (con cui vincerà il Festival di Sanremo 1989 in coppia con Anna Oxa). Le caratteristiche vocali hanno ispirato questo album dove il feeling jazz del quartetto di Vito Di Modugno si sposa perfettamente con l’anima black soul e blues di Fausto Leali. Un disco imperdibile con grandi arrangiamenti, espressività interpretativa, un suono di Hammond strepitoso. Il repertorio attinge ad alcuni grandi classici che hanno reso famoso Leali, più alcuni inediti ed il contributo di Germana Schena che canta in duetto in “Memories on my mind”. Vito Di Modugno is among the figures best known to the public in the field of contemporary jazz, particularly for his role as one of the most highly regarded Hammond players at an international level. He also appeared in the special ranking of Down Beat, the most authoritative jazz magazine in the world, among the best interpreters of the instrument. Leading  his quartet, which includes musicians of great national prestige (Massimo Manzi, Michele Carrabba, Pietro Condorelli), he joins the Italian giant Fausto Leali, known throughout the world for his scratchy voice which earned him the nickname of negro white, with successes in the field of Italian pop music that have entered the collective imagination: A chi (cover of Hurt), Angelitos negros, Un'ora fa, Io camminerò, Io amo, Mi manchi, Ti lascerò (with which will win the 1987 Sanremo Festival paired with Anna Oxa). His vocal characteristics inspired this album where the jazz feeling of Vito Di Modugno's quartet blends perfectly with the black soul and blues of Fausto Leali. An unmissable album with great arrangements, interpretative expressiveness, an engaging Hammond sound. The repertoire draws on some of the great successes that made Leali famous, plus some original compositions with the contribution of Germana Schena who sings a duet in "Memories on my mind".
